WoW Tailoring Guide

Tailoring is one of the primary professions your character can have. Not only can you make gear for clothies, most of the gear can be disenchanted, making it a good pair with enchanting. In addition to gear, you can make threads and leg enchants at later levels, and let’s not forget… Bags! To make some money back, have your other profession be Enchanting, or pair up with an Enchanter and DE the items. You can sell the mats, often, for more gold than the item itself.

Tips:

* Cloth can be expensive. You can also grind it out. However, unlike herbs or mining, it consists of killing lots and lots of mobs.
* Unless specified below, these recipes are from the trainers or simple vendors. Don’t spend your money on World Drop recipes until you want something specific, as opposed to leveling.
* Good news! Cloth is usually readily available on the AH. Bad news… It can be expensive, because players know that you don’t want to grind the mobs.
* Bags are a good moneymaker for a tailor… Small but consistent income.

Tailoring Specializations

Right about now, you need to make a choice. Tailors who are 60+ in level and 350+ Tailoring skill get to pick Mooncloth, Shadoweave, or Spellfire Tailoring. Picking these specialties don’t get in the way of your leveling. However, on specialty cloths, the specialist can create twice as much. Each specialty has specific items they can create. Which do you pick? Base it on your character if you’re a clothie. If you’re not – then it doesn’t really matter, as it all sells about the same. Mooncloth is geared more towards Healing, Shadoweave is geared more towards Shadow and Frost specs, and Spellfire is geared more towards Fire and Arcane specs. You create Mooncloth at a Moonwell, Shadoweave at the Altar of Shadows, and Spellfire at Netherstorm.
