WoW Enchanting Guide

Enchanting, one of the primary professions your character can obtain, basically adds stat increases to items. Say you have all the Tier 8 gear maxed out. You are Uber. Well… You’re NOT until you get the right enchants. So, let’s take a look at what the most efficient way to max out Enchanting is.

Tips:

* In order to learn Enchanting, you can merely ask a guard in any large city.
* Enchants exist for Shoulders, Chest, Wrist, Hands, Feet, and Non-Ranged Weapons. Enchanters can also enchant their own rings.
* Just use the recipes you get from standard vendors and trainers, unless otherwise mentioned below. You’re already going to be spending money on mats if you want to level fast, so don’t waste the gold on World Drops in the AH until later.
* If you DO go the AH route for your mats, you’re looking more than 7,000 gold, depending on your realm’s economy. To attempt to keep costs down, you need to concentrate on the recipes that use dusts and essences rather than shards, as those are the most common, cheapest mats.
* A better way to go would be to price the mats on the AH, and then search for the proper item level of armor and weapons. If they’re cheaper, buy those and disenchant those instead. You can find a disenchant table here. Depending on the iLevel of the item, this chart can tell you what it will disenchant into.
* The really good enchants that most people want nowadays are after level 350. That’s where you can get your money back – especially if you keep the mats on hand.
* Enchanting can go rather well with Tailoring as your other primary profession. As you level Tailoring, you can disenchant the Greens and Blues and voila! Enchanting mats. This, however, is not a requirement.
* The specifics are in the guide below, but keep in mind you’ll always need a rod. They get more difficult to make as the profession skills up, but the higher rod works for all the lower level enchants as well.
* You have two options on items to enchant. A) Purchase Inscription Vellums from a Scribe or the AH and enchant those to potentially sell. B) You’ll need an item to enchant, as you’re probably not going to be able to sell the enchants for skillups until later. Just use your own, or buy the cheapest properly leveled item from the AH. Your enchant will tell you the item level needed.
* Once you’re leveled, don’t forget that you can make money selling the mats yourself from disenchanting items.
