Does Your Faction Always Lose?
We got an awesome question to answer today:
Why does the horde nearly ALWAYS win in bg’s?
From my experience of playing on multiple servers, on both factions, with plenty of different characters… the answer is different for every battlegroup. On some battlegroups players don’t even queue for some of the battlegrounds because they think it’s “an automatic loss”. On other servers, they just consistently lose, unless they are lucky to join a battleground where they outnumber the other team.
So what’s the cause of this? On some servers, what makes it possible for one faction to be so dominant? Are they tapping into some dominant strategy? Do they know more? Are they some how better geared?
The answer to that is most likely no.
From my experience in playing on multiple servers, I have been on the winning and losing side of “Pug Battlegrounds”. I don’t like losing. So on the servers where I was losing consistently, I tried to get to the bottom of it.
I noticed a very big difference on the servers where we dominate. Most of the players in the battlegroup have a strategy, and they stick to it. It doesn’t matter what the strategy is exactly (there are multiple ways to win battlegrounds) but the fact of the matter is; they have ONE.
They don’t have 15 people in the battleground, shouting and screaming one strategy, then someone else starts spamming that the first person was an idiot, and completely nerd rages the entire battleground causing problems.
If you don’t like the strategy, TOUGH. Having the experience I have, i’ve found easier ways to win then what the strategy that most players want to use. When I started, I decided to try and coach the players in the battlegroup and try to get them playing in my “winning style”. This only caused clashes (no matter how nicely I went about it) – so I decided to shut up, and play the way they wanted to.
When I did this, and I encouraged other players to do the same, things started to change drastically. The more players you can get following ONE strategy, for ONE goal, the more likely you will be to succeed in battlegrounds. The important part of this is not actually telling everyone to stick together, it’s by actually doing it. I’ve seen many times when someone spams a strategy, and they go off and do their own thing.
If you want to be a leader, lead by example. Get everyone on the same page, and stick to the plan that works best for the battlegroup. If not, you can continue to argue that “x” player from another server is a complete idiot, and nerd rage on them while you lose every battleground.
P.S. If you didn’t get the point of this post, it’s that you NEED to work together as a team. If you consistently find yourself losing, first figure out what YOU are doing wrong. If you find yourself alone in BG’s alot, find out why you aren’t with the group. Stop trying to do your own thing, and mold to the group.
