The Pitiful Re-grind

We have all heard about the new expansion Wrath of the Lich King, and it’s accompanied by the new “Death Knight” feature. Many seem to be anxious about it, as well as myself. The fact remains that it is still a touchy subject. Just like in Star Wars Galaxies, and unlocking Jedi profession in the old days rather than making it a starting profession, once you unlock it you have to work at it. Although in SWG, you were able to unlock Jedi on that same character. From the facts that Blizzard gave us, you will have to start a semi-new character (40-50 is being rumored).

Once, you unlock your DK, what happens to your character that you’ve been working so hard at? All those countless hours spent grinding, questing for reputation, and farming for epics…what now? Leave him to be rusted and sold for scraps? It seems that once you unlock your DK character, you have no more use for your old character. Some may try to juggle both characters, while still trying to level their DK. Next, when even more features are unveiled, it will give you even more reason to stay logged on your DK. I for one, would love to unlock DK, but make that feature available on the same character!

I have spent way too many hours to make a mediocre Lvl 50ish DK. So from raising the skill cap level to 80, then regrinding your character from 70 to 80, followed by a new character, let’s just say Lvl 50. Regrind your newly crowned DK from 50 to 80! Do the math, fellow Azerothians!

70 to 80 = 10 Levels; 50 to 80 = 30 Levels; total of 40 Levels to have a Lvl 80 DK!

With all these new features coming out in WotLK, I will be surely exploring, questing, and experimenting with the newly added content. Whether it be scourging through the fortress of Grim Batol, or trying to get the very first flight path in Northrend, I will try to enjoy the game as if it was my first time playing. But I will try and hold off on the DK. Do you think grinding to DK would be a worthy success, or just a waste of game time? What would you do? Do you think it’s a good idea for the extra character?

Well I’d imagine it would probably be similar to when BC came out, how some chose to plunge into the new content of Outlands while others chose to level a Blood Elf character all the way to 70. The worth of leveling a DK will depend on how good or interesting Blizzard makes them, so we’ll just have to see.
