Don’t Make Me Beg!

This is something that has been a plague to MMO’s for a very long time. Every MMO that I have played seems to have some sort of player that wants to beg their way through the game instead of trying to play through for themselves.

I’m sure you have seen some sort of begging. I have seen plenty in my time.. you know:

“HeY Cen I have 1g to git my Skillz?!?!?!?!”
“PLEASE!!!!?!?!?!>!!>~”

or

“Hey Man Can I borrow 5g to get this Gun I want”

********** is a level 9 Human Warrior in Ironforge.

Or the classic one:
“HOT NAKED NIGHTELF DANCING IN FRONT OF THE AUCTION HOUSE!!!”
“PLEASE COME DONATE TO MY MOUNT FUND!!!!”

I used to either simply tell them no, or I would tell them to get a life. But I recently came up with a better solution. I have a little macro that is set up to respond to them (after I click it) that may have a better effect then saying no, or just ignoring them!

My response is this:

In a game where you can be a warrior, an exporer, an adverturer, a Killer, an explorer, or a Master Crafter – You have chosen the life of a beggar. Good Choice!

I can’t stand these players, and I would never give them anything even if they did just start playing the game that very day. Every player in this game had the same ability to farm gold for their character and begin moving through the game. WHY CAN’T THEY!

What I love to do is this> say shur..open trade…put in a couple hunderd..then ask if thats enuff…then they start drooling…wait about 30 sec then close trade w/o giving them a cent…lol..i’m a MEAN mage.hehehehehee

I’m doing the same stuff sometimes, put in like a few thousand gold, and then go AFK for a cigarette ;P

  3. Tapp Says:

Both are classic! Love the quote. One thing though is that it is probably a loss of words for that person. They could care less. And Katts I don’t think that is mean at all. They are wasting their time asking and they are wasting your time as well. So I consider that a balanced exchange of wasted time. :D I need to try that as well. haha!

  4. Lockboy Says:

As a warlock my favorite line is “Sorry I would but right now my horse is on fire and i have to deal with that first…”

  5. Joakim Says:

I give gold to some people because I’m Mr. Nice Guy :P But after reading this I will never give any gold to ANYONE! Thanks dude. :D

  6. JP Says:

I have handed out gold but never to anyone asking for it.
Every once in a while I will throw 5-10 at a n00b. they are so easy to spot. And it’s fun. But you are right about the begging.

  7. Kat Says:

If a beggar has a guild, then I ask him/her “would your GM approve?” (guild master, not game master ;])

If s/he says the GM would, then I report him/her to the GM.

Gotten a couple of people kicked out of guilds that way. You should see the angry letters. “I can’t get into any guilds!” Well, you’re level 9 . . . go roll a new toon and don’t beg this time. :3

I’ll put that macro up for those who don’t have guilds. And, okay, even those who do. :3
